New world trade deal signed
20 Dec 2005

Agricultural export subsidies will be phased out by rich countries within seven years but farm tariffs will remain under the agreement signed by trade ministers at the WTO talks in Hong Kong. The 50 least developed nations will get tariff free access to rich economies for 97 per cent of their exports. The National Farmers Federation said that the EU and G10 countries are still failing to address the fundamental issue of improved market access.
