CSIRO defends its red meat diet 12 Jan 2006
The CSIRO has defended its Total Wellbeing Diet as scientifically proven and based on independent research after prominent dietician Rosemary Stanton wrote to the Prime Minster to complain that the diet was confusing and contravened the government’s Australian Guide to Healthy Eating. CSIRO recommends 300 grams of meat per day based on research partly funded by the Meat and Livestock Association and the dairy industry whilst the Healthy Eating Guide recommends just 85 – 100 grams four times per week.
