Campaign to keep grower control of AWB 9 Jan 2008
A wheat grower in NSW, Jock Munro, is campaigning to try to prevent AWB from making changes to its constitution that would see farmers lose control of the company. Mr Munro has nominated for a seat on the board as a Class A shareholder and has written to 4,000 wheat growers to tell them that the upcoming vote on the changes will be the most important in the history of wheat marketing. The changes that AWB is trying to make would mean that the distinction between Class A and Class B shareholders is removed so that Class A shareholders, the wheat growers, would lose their control of the company.
