Green light for wheat exporters expected soon
18 Jan 2008

Exporters should know soon which will have their applications to sell this year's harvest overseas with an announcement from Agriculture Minister Tony Burke expected within days. A report by the Export Wheat Commission has found that there has already been a large increase in the volume of wheat exported by other companies. Over the last year the agriculture minister has approved the export of 1.3 million tonnes of wheat by companies other than AWB. Last month Mr Burke asked applicants for export licences for this year's harvest to submit extra information to the EWC to support their application.
