Tax office offers help for cases of hardship
18 Jan 2008

Ultimately farmers have to pay whatever taxes are due, however the Tax Commissioner Michael D'Ascenzo has said that those that are having trouble meeting their tax obligations due to hardship should seek assistance well in advance. Mr D'Ascenzo said that the Tax Office understands that extreme and unpredictable weather conditions can have a big impact on rural communities. The Tax Office can allow people affected more time to lodge their activity statements or tax returns without incurring a penalty or allow extra time for debts to be repaid, he said.
