Beef exports threatened by US
30 Jan 2008

Australia's largest market for exported beef is under threat with the US and Korea poised to ratify a free trade agreement. Tariffs on beef imported from the US would be slashed, making it cheaper than meat from Australia. Currently Australia has 74 per cent of the Korean beef import market and is the third biggest market for our beef exports after Japan and the US. Meat and Livestock Australia is lobbying the government to establish a free trade agreement with Korea so that market share will not be lost.
