Ophelia hovers off WA coast
3 Mar 2008

While no warnings have been issued yet, the Bureau of Meteorology is keeping a close watch on tropical Cyclone Ophelia. The cyclone is currently category two and early this morning was situated about 345 kilometres north-west of Broome. While the Bureau says there is no immediate danger to coastal communities the storm is expected to develop over the next 24 hours and move from category two to category three later today. Mark Paull from the weather bureau said that at this stage it is expected to track parallel to the coast and could still be sitting offshore for 48 hours or more.
