Farm incomes improve but some still face losses
5 Mar 2008

Farm incomes were at their lowest point since 1992-93 last year but the Australian Bureau of Agriculture and Resource Economics is expecting a recovery this year. During 2006-07 the average farming business lost $49,610 which should be turned around to an average profit of $11,900 in the current financial year. Different areas had wildly varying results however with the average farm in NSW expected to lose $86,800 this year while in the Northern Territory the average is forecast to be a profit of $513,000.
