Wet summer continues in Queensland 7 Mar 2008
Heavy flooding in northern Queensland has cut roads, disrupted train services and caused widespread damage to homes. Flash flooding has seen the state government implement disaster relief arrangements for Douglas and Atherton shires yesterday, following similar measures in the Cairns, Cardwell and Johnstone local government areas on Monday. The weather bureau says that flood warnings remain in place for the Tully, Murray and Upper Herbert rivers in the far north. The flooding has also let a crocodile into the ponds of a public park in the city of Mackay.
