Bulk finds favour in UK 14 Mar 2008
Shipping wine in 24,000 litre plastic bladders reduces the environmental impact of transportation as it is a more efficient use of space and does not add the weight of glass bottles. UK consumers are being given information on the carbon footprint of products and Australian wine bottles are estimated to add 120,000 tonnes to the country’s household waste every year. The end of the grape glut has seen total exports of bulk wine drop by 25 per cent in the twelve months to the end of February but bulk exports to the UK have remained steady.
