Cotton shrinks but delivers quality 13 May 2008
While the cotton crop may be the smallest for years, the yields and quality are high. Steve Brown, a grower at Narrabri in NSW, said that cotton ginned so far this year has yielded 14.3 bales per hectare, compared with 11.4 last year. Mr Brown said that the unusually mild summer had been a plus for improved water efficiency, but that the quality had improved as well. "The yield is up and the quality is up, that's a good double to have," he said.
