Russia gets taste for Australian beef
5 Jun 2008

Australia's beef exports to Russia have jumped sharply to 17,557 boneless tonnes in May from 8,426 tonnes in April. According to the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry only 87 tonnes was sent to Russia in May last year. Exports have been increasing since Russia issued a series of country-specific bans on poultry, pork and beef for unacceptable antibiotic levels. Australia now sends more beef to Russia than to the US and South Korea with only Japan taking more.
