Wheat prices head higher 18 Jun 2008
Floods in the US mid west and speculators have driven global wheat prices above US$9/bushel for December delivery. Extensive damage to corn crops in Iowa and other US states have led to the wheat rice rally as analysts say the corn shortage will lead to more demand for wheat as animal fodder. Demand for corn is also being being driven by the biofuel industry.
