Water decisions looming as Murray dies
25 Jun 2008

Victoria's water minister, Tim Holding, is yet to make a decision to support lifting the four per cent cap on trading water out of irrigation districts despite heavy lobbying from Canberra. The Council of Australian Governments will make a decision on the matter next week. The Australian Conservation Foundation has launched a bid to beg, borrow or buy at least 450,000 megalitres of irrigators' water to avert "ecological catastrophe" in the Murray River's Lower Lakes.
