The world needs more water

Population growth and dietary change in developing countries will lead to pressure on governments to release water collected for environmental flows says the International Water Management Institute. The world will need to find an extra two to three million gigalitres in the next 30 years to feed the growing population. The eWise co-operative research centre said environmental water rights should be held by private individuals and corporations to guard against pressure on governments to release it.
