Free range eggs not fresh
1 Jul 2008

One third of free range eggs are not fresh according to the Australian Consumers Association. 36 per cent were found to be weak and watery. A spokesman called for more regulation of the term "free range" because consumers may be disappointed with the industrial production methods employed by much of the free range egg industry. He said standards allowing up to 14 birds per square metre should be tightened to nine birds per metre.
