Farm incomes and costs up
4 Jul 2008

Farm income will rise by 50 per cent this year, after costs are deducted, according to the latest estimates from the National Australia Bank. Winter crop production is forecast to rise 66 per cent to 37 million tonnes, with a good winter wheat harvest leading the way. Fertiliser costs are up 34 per cent while fuel costs are up 26 per cent. Overall farm costs are up six per cent.
