Less wine exported in 2007
8 Jul 2008

The volume of wine exported fell 12 per cent to 702 million litres in 2007 the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation said. The value of wine exports fell 11 per cent to $2.7 billion. This is the first drop in export volumes and values in 14 years. The average price increased one per cent to $3.78 a litre, which is marginally below the 2005 export selling price. Most of the price pressure affected bulk wine exports, though bottled wine also faced lower prices in the second half of the year. The drought cut production, while vintners ran down surplus stock.
