Truck strike worries F&V retailers
30 Jul 2008

Regional retailers are concerned about where their next delivery from fruit and vegetable markets will come from if truck drivers and companies heed the call of the National Road Transport Forum (NRTF) and The Australian Long Distance Owners and Drivers Association (ALDODA) and not go to work for two weeks. Not all companies were participating in the national road shut down but fruit and vegetable retailers were concerned that stock at market could dwindle. The action was taken because of concerns over safety and the viability of the industry. The two groups want action on fuel prices, more parking bays with shower facilities and quicker earning back time for license demerit points. The Transport Workers Union does not support the action.
