Fertiliser prices and profits up 31 Jul 2008
Fertiliser and explosives manufacturer Incitec Pivot says China will underpin demand for protein rich food and therefore fertilisers for at least thirty years. The company has approved the $935 million Moranbah ammonium nitrate plant project. Despite high prices for fertilisers, many producers were struggling because of high input costs. Incitec Pivot said the company expected deliver a pre-tax profit in 2008 of $850 million, three times higher than last year despite rising prices.
