AWB vote extended to Monday
28 Aug 2008

AWB shareholders have until 2pm on Monday the 1st of September to vote for **or** against constitutional change to scrap the grower class of shareholder. AWB chairman Brendan Stewart adjourned last week''''s shareholder meeting to allow the company time to contact shareholders who had not voted. 65.5 votes were cast in favour of change, 25.1 per cent against with 9.4 per cent given to proxy holders. Mr Stewart claimed that the proposal had 74.7 per cent support, close to the 75 per cent needed for constitutional change. The meeting will then resume next Wednesday in Melbourne. Four AWB directors who are opposing change rejected repeated calls for them to resign last week.
