AWB campaigns for grower votes 29 Aug 2008
Only 27 per cent of AWB''s A class shareholders have voted in the ballot to end the dual share structure of the former monopoly exporter of Australian wheat. AWB have recruited former leader of the National Party, wheat grower John Anderson to promote the reforms. Voting has been extended until the 3rd of September. A seventy five majority vote is required to change the constitution. AWB says change would remove conflicts of interest and give it better access to finance and other resources through presenting a more conventional corporate structure.
