Good beef sales go down
22 Apr 2009

Sales of the signature top-end beef brand, Certified Australian Angus Beef, fell sharply in the last quarter of 2008 due to plummeting demand in export markets caused by the general slowdown in economic activity globally. More than 96,000 cattle were processed under the brand last year (just 521 less than in 2007). The volumes shipped from September were down and total income for the year stalled at just over $590,000. Despite the small reduction in the number of cattle processed, total sales for the year decreased by 16 per cent on 2007, due to the poor trading environment of the last quarter of 2008.
