Organic certification to be mandatory
11 Dec 2007

Growers who want to market their products as organic will need to be accredited in an effort to stamp out rogue traders and increase consumer confidence in the industry. Standards Australia is working on the creation of a national standard and enforcement framework but growers will still be able to be certified by one of the seven accredited certifiers. Under the existing system certification is not mandatory with growers able to choose whether or not to participate, unless exporting food.
