Wheat exports threatened by port delays 6 Mar 2009
Delays at Australian ports are forcing international wheat buyers to look elsewhere to ensure they don''t run out of wheat. Indonesia''s Wheat Flour Association said imports from Australia would be much lower than the expected 2.5 million-2.7 million tonnes. The Korea Flour Millers Industrial Association, *or* Kofmia, last week wrote to the Australian government warning they would go elsewhere if congestion in Western Australian ports persists. Other major asian buyers in Malaysia and Japan say they will continue to ship Australian wheat despite delays.
