US gives cloned products the green light
17 Jan 2008

The US Food and Drug Administration has approved the sale of meat and milk from cloned livestock, saying that the products are as safe to eat as they are from normally bred animals. US food safety groups, animal rights groups are concerned about the decision and the dairy industry fears that exports will be damaged. However it will be years before products from clones will be available to consumers. The animals are clones of the highest quality livestock and are better used for breeding than milking or slaughter.
