NFF fights for FarmBis
22 Jan 2008

The National Farmers Federation is urging the government to reconsider its pre-election plan to cut funding for the FarmBis program, saying that training would be needed to help the sector recover from drought. Labor had said that the $24 million over three years devoted to the program would be redirected toward preparing agriculture for climate change. The NFF has said that while it supports a focus on climate change, it should not be at the expense of training people to meet future workforce needs and improve their efficiency. "Our capacity to generate future economic growth is in serious jeopardy should the outcomes delivered by FarmBis, which helps to build this capacity, be removed."

The Australian Financial Review, 22/1/2008
