Farmers back pacific workers
12 Aug 2008

The Liberal/National Party coalition is scaremongering and using inappropriate language and information about plans to import unskilled pacific Island workers for fruit picking and other seasonal work say farmers groups. The National Farmers Federation has criticised federal opposition spokesperson for foreign affairs Andrew Robb, a former executive of the NFF, who has challenged the plan when Australia has 500,000 unemployed people. Robb also asked what had been done to ensure no "bad elements" arrived as part of the scheme.
