Grazier’s lose feed in $1 million fire
4 May 2007

Drought stricken farmers in Adelaide have lost desperately needed feed in what is believed to have been a deliberately lit $1 million shed fire. Stored hay, which was to have been used as emergency feed in the eastern states, burned so intensely firefighters were unable to extinguish it. It is expected to burn for up to four days. Freeling farmer Tom Shanahan said, "It has put us in a real dilemma because there is an absolute shortage of feed and fodder about. It's not the sort of thing that we can replace very easily due to the drought conditions here and in the eastern states, so it's devastating for us."
