Feds call an end to drought help in southern and western Queensland
7 Feb 2005

The federal government withdrew drought assistance to farmers on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, Western Downs and Maranoa regions. The National Rural Advisory Council said that exceptional circumstances drought assistance should not be extended. The advisory council said that most of the regions’ producers experienced reasonable crop yields or pasture growth last year, particularly over the summer months, while water storage facilities were also partially replenished.
