Farm gate milk prices flat in 2006
4 Mar 2005

Dairy farmers can expect farm gate milk prices to remain flat, around an average 30.6 cents per litre in 2005/06, the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics said in its latest industry outlook. ABARE said real farm gate prices, however, are expected to stay above 31 cents from 2006 to 2009, assuming a weaker exchange rate against the US dollar. ABARE expects Australian milk production is forecast to grow modestly over the next five years.
