Sugar price may lift as EU cuts subsidies

The European Union is expected to reduce subsidies on 5.2 million tonnes of sugar exports, equal to 12 per cent of all sugar traded globally. Analysts Credit Suisse First Boston expect increased prices for exports from the Queensland sugar pool by as much as 10 per cent, from $250 a tonne to $275 a tonne .
