AWB fends off 3 court cases but more to come
2 Oct 2008

A class action by residents of three northern governates of Iraq against AWB has been dismissed by the US District Court in New York. The residents alleged that AWB engaged in illegal activities and effectively deprived them of humanitarian benefits arising from the UN oil for food program. It is the third court action taken against AWB in the United States that has been dismissed. AWB said an Iraqi government lawsuit taken against 93 companies including AWB had not yet been served on them. Australian shareholders in AWB have filed a civil action against the company claiming damages arising from alleged non-disclosure by AWB of material information.
