WA wild dog review group formed 13 May 2004
A wild dog advisory committee has been formed in WA in response to the Agriculture Protection Board's wild dog review released late in 2003. The committee, established by APB and representing all stakeholders, will increase industry and community involvement in policy and provide the APB and Agriculture Department with a broader perspective. The committee will meet twice a year to discuss the wild dog program, areas of concern and recommendations for improvement.
The committee comprises one APB representative, three pastoral producers representing WA's pastoral rangelands, two producers representing WA's eastern agricultural areas, a CALM rep, local government, the mining industry, the RSPCA and a person representing indigenous land managers. The Agriculture Department will provide executive and technical support.
WA's wild dog advisory committee will focus solely on wild dogs, whereas the Zone Control Authorities have responsibility for all declared plant and animal pests.
