SPC Ardmona out for acquisitions
24 May 2004

Speculation that SPC Ardmona may swallow rival fruits and vegetable processor Golden Circle was strengthened this week when SPC chairman David Millerton said his company is still looking for acquisitions. SPC Ardmona recently announced a $51 million acquisition of the Henry Jones IXL jam and fruit snacks business and is planning to expand in Spain.

Nevertheless, Mr Millerton said SPC is looking for further acquisitions, saying a target would have to be an Australian business, branded No 1 or No 2 in its sector and fit in with SPC Ardmona's current operations. He mentioned Golden Circle as a possibility.
