Mandatory code of conduct for horticulture industry
5 Oct 2004

A coalition government would enforce a code of conduct for the horticulture sector. The code will put into place a set of rules for growers and wholesalers to follow, when buying or selling produce. The coalition undertaking matches a promise made by the Labor party last week. Disney Crombie, general manager of Victoria's chamber of fresh produce wholesalers says a mandatory code is not necessary, and suggests that it's the industry groups pushing for it, not fruit and vegetable growers.
