Third outbreak of citrus canker in central Queensland

The Primary Industries Department said surveillance officers found evidence of citrus canker in the Selma Road orchard near Emerald in Queensland’s Central Highlands operated by the 2PH Group. Citrus canker was first found on the property in October last year and again last month and led to destruction of more than 100,000 trees.
The latest outbreak may lead to removal of almost all the 200,000 trees on the 2PH property, which could not be replanted for two years. The department has, however, cleared growers around Mundubbera-Gayndah in the Central Burnett to harvest mandarins.
