Twelve per cent of farmers seek drought aid
19 Oct 2006

Nearly 15,000 of Australia's 130,000 farmers have received interest rate subsidies under exceptional circumstances assistance. The federal government has given more than $1.2 billion in drought aid to more than 53,000 families since 2001. Twelve per cent of farmers in drought-declared areas are receiving drought support.
