Hard line on fruit movements 8 Feb 2008
The fruit fly inspectors controlling movement of fruit into the Riverland area are taking a tough line and have confiscated many kilos of fruit. One family held up traffic for 45 minutes as they argued over the seizure of 15 pieces of fruit but ultimately had to hand it over, adding to the 50 kilograms taken at the checkpoint during the day. Officials said that they had to be tough and not allow any exceptions as one person bringing in fruit could damage the entire industry.
