Only one month left for NextG complaints
12 Feb 2008

Consumers have been told that they have just one month to lodge submissions about whether Telstra should be allowed to switch off its CDMA mobile phone network. Communications Minister Stephen Conroy met Telstra along with interest groups yesterday to grill the company over its plans to close the old network on 28 April. The meeting heard concerns over the quality of some of the NextG handsets being sold to customers, particularly regarding inferior signal strength. In a statement issued later in the day, Senator Conroy said that the CDMA network can be turned off if he is satisfied that identified issues have been rectified. Concerns about the closure can be phoned to Telstra's NextG hotline on 1800 888 888 or submissions to the government emailed to nextg@dbcde.gove.au.
