SA aims to boost food output 30 Apr 2008
South Australia is aiming to increase its food production from $10 billion to $15 billion by 2010. The State Food Plan was unveiled yesterday by Primary Industries and Resources SA's executive director of Agriculture Food and Wine Don Plowman. While an end to the drought would deliver a $2 billion boost to production the plan also looks to industry and business development, innovation and new product and market development to achieve the increase. According to Dr Plowman, finished food production in the state has grown from $2.8 billion to $4.05 billion over the last decade, but is expected to jump to $5.28 billion over the next three years.
