Horticulture favoured by MIS investors
18 Jul 2008

Managed investment schemes raised $1.1 billion from investors in the 2008 financial year, down five per cent of the year before the Australian Agribusiness Group said. AAG said uncertainty regarding the Australian Taxation Office''s treatment of non-timber MIS projects had had a negative influence on investment flows. The AAG report showed there were 57 agribusiness offerings open for investment in 2007-08 compared with 67 in 2006-07. Timber projects raised 5 per cent more in funds than last year, horticultural funds were up 4 per cent, but funds raised in the wine grape category fell 46 per cent.
