Trade talks fail again 30 Jul 2008
The Doha round of WTO trade talks have collapsed after nine days over a dispute between India, China and the USA. The only issue that could not be overcome were special tariffs to protect poor farmers in developing countries from subsidised dumping of surplus produce. Australian trade minister Simon Crean said it was unfortunate that some countries involved in the talks could not overcome domestic concerns for the greater good.
