Locusts breeding in Victoria
5 Aug 2008

The Victorian government is warning of a possible locust plague this spring. Agriculture Minister Joe Helper said egg-bearing locusts had been recorded across about 1.24 million hectares in Northern Victoria, particularly in the irrigation region north of Shepparton. The government is working with landowners with spraying advice to combat the outbreak in its early stages. Mr Helper asked people to report any locust sightings to the DPI.
