Crown land grazing fees may rise 7 Aug 2008
More than 8,000 landowners will be affected by a Victorian government proposal to raise fees for grazing on Crown land water frontages. Grazing fees should rise from $37 to more than $1,100 to discourage grazing on unfenced crown water frontages says a Victorian government report. A spokesperson said the report was not government policy. The report from consultants said license to graze fees should be raised to reflect their true market value in order to protect the riparian environment. The Victorian Farmers Federation said the plan was fundamentally flawed.
