Parmalat out of Dairy Farmers race
8 Aug 2008

National Foods and Warrnambool Cheese and Butter Factory are believed to have lodged a final bid for Dairy Farmers. Dairy Farmers is owned by about 2,000 farmers and is thought to be worth $800 million to $1 billion dollars. Italian dairy group Parmalat has dropped out of the proposed consortium with Murray Goulburn farmer''s co-op which planned to put together a rival bid for Dairy Farmers. The ACCC had raised concerns about the Parmalat bid, while the National Foods group was cleared by the competition regulator.
