No price gouging in fertiliser market
28 Aug 2008

Competition regulator the ACCC has found no evidence of local fertiliser companies misusing their market power to raise prices to farmers. The ACCC report into the fertiliser industry said that rising global demand and high fuel prices the main driver of high fertiliser prices in Australia. The National Farmers Federation said the inquiry was a non-event because no farmers were prepared to come forward to substantiate allegations that companies were misusing their market power. Incitec Pivot said the findings should reassure farmers.
