Food prices still too high says UN
1 Sep 2008

Food and commodity prices have eased since the UN called a summit to discuss the crisis in high food prices in June. The head of the United Nations'' Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) said that the price falls were temporary and were still very high compared to 2006 levels. Corn, soybeans and cattle prices have fallen sharply since July. The median price of Thai 100 per cent B grade white rice is now well below the record high of $1,080 per tonne marked in April.
