18 Sep 2008

The Murray Darling Basin Commission said it purchased Nulla Station on Lake Victoria, near the South Australian border. The MDBC said it would use the 48,000 hectare property to better manage Lake Victoria. The station, which currently runs sheep, has no irrigation entitlements. The sheep will be sold and the vegetation allowed to regrow. The commission said it has already has bought two, smaller properties on the shores of Lake Victoria.
