Private weather services get it wrong
23 Sep 2008

Private weather forecasting services overstated the strength of winds and storms in NSW and created unnecessary alarm say the Bureau of Meteorology. Strong winds and storms created havoc in western NSW yesterday with more than 200 calls to emergency services. Private forecasters predicted the front would reach Sydney bringing hail and gale force winds. However this did not occur with the Bureau of Meteorology denying that it had been the source of that forecast.
